April Estrellon

April Estrellon is Civil Beat’s multimedia producer and works on creating audio, video and graphic elements for the website. She also produces Civil Beat’s podcasts which include Hawaii Storytellers and weekly episodes of Pod Squad and Offshore.

April has degrees in journalism and anthropology from the University of Hawaii Manoa. As a student she helped produce and host the student run news broadcast Ka Hui Ho’olauna for KFVE. She also volunteered at UH’s archaeology lab, helping photograph and catalogue fishhooks for their reference collection.

Her interests include history and cultural studies of Asia and the Pacific and storytelling through new media.
