Ikaika Anderson is vice chair of the Honolulu City Council. He represents District 3 and serves as the chair of the Zoning and Planning Committee.

He won his bid for reelection in the 2012 primary with about 64 percent of the vote.

Anderson was born on February 5, 1978 and studied at Kamehameha Schools. He earned a double major in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Anderson served on the Associated Students of Hawaii at Manoa Student Senate, according to his campaign website.

District 3 consists of Waimanalo, Kailua and most of Kaneohe.

Anderson was first elected to the seat after former Council Chair Barbara Marshall died in early 2009.

He raised eyebrows at a council meeting last spring when he said he might opposed a high rise residential permit if the units would be sold in China.  Several attorneys said they thought that would be unconstitutional and discriminatory.  Although it was pointed out that a certain percentage of units could be sold as affordable housing.

The developer, Jay Fang, said he was misunderstood and was merely trying to attract foreign investors to the project.

Anderson withstood and assault on his planning and zoning chairmanship from Councilor Trevor Ozawa in 2016.  The bill from Osawa was voted down by the council.
