Kathryn Matayoshi, the superintendent of the Hawaii Department of Education. She was notified by the Hawaii Board of Education last year that she would be replaced in June of 2017. Formerly executive director of the Hawaii Business Roundtable, she was hired in the summer of 2009 to serve as the deputy superintendent and also assisted in the department’s bid for federal Race to the Top funds.
Matayoshi graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. with a B.A. in English literature, and she holds a law degree from University of California Hastings College of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Hawai.
