You can delay, but you can’t hide. That’s the message from the Office of Information Practices to Gov. Neil Abercrombie. The governor is required to make public his short list of potential Supreme Court judges after Sabrina McKenna is confirmed — and can’t keep it a secret. OIP on Thursday sent a letter to the governor’s office saying he “must release the names under the law.” Civil Beat and others had filed appeals. Abercrombie has argued that sharing potential judge picks would frustrate efforts to attract quality applicants. A spokeswoman said the governor would review OIP’s letter and “determine our next course of action.”
