Honolulu City Council Chair Ernie Martin is expected to retain his leadership of the nine-member council this year. Council members will vote Friday on a resolution that will retain him as chair and Councilman Ikaika Anderson as vice chair. Councilman Ron Menor is expected to continue on as floor leader.
Martin, under his authority as chair, has also made committee assignments.

Newly-elected Councilman Trevor Ozawa will serve as chair of the Executive Matters and Legal Affairs Committee. Councilman Brandon Elefante, who replaced Breene Harimoto, will chair the Business, Economic Development and Tourism Committee.
Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi will continue to chair the powerful Budget Committee. Anderson also retains his chairmanship of the Zoning and Planning Committee.
Other assignments include Kymberly Pine, chair of the Parks, Community and Customer Services Committee; Carol Fukunaga, chair of the Public Works, Infrastructure and Sustainability Committee; Joey Manahan, chair of the Transportation Committee; and Ron Menor, chair of the Public Health, Safety and Welfare Committee.
Martin will chair a Legislative Affairs Committee that will meet as needed.
