President Obama now has a personal Twitter account, @POTUS (short-hand for “president of the United States”).

“Dad, husband, and 44th President of the United States. Tweets may be archived: ,” according to the account.

The president’s account already had more than 750,000 followers as of 8:30 a.m. Monday, Hawaii Standard Time.

The followers include Gene Park, formerly of Civil Beat and now with The Washington Post, and Oskar Garcia, former Associated Press boss in Hawaii now watching a lot of sports and getting paid for it.

The president is following 65 other Twitter accounts, including ones for Chicago’s professional sports teams, Secretary of State John Kerry and other Cabinet members.

Former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton also make the cut, as does his wife, Michelle (@FLOTUS).

Obama’s “header image” is a photo from the 50th anniversary of the voting rights march in Selma, Ala., which was marked this year, says The Hill.

“There is also an account in his name but run by political group Organizing for Action and a separate account for the White House,” the Capitol Hill rag explains.
