In 1995, as the debate over police misconduct files was playing out at the Hawaii Legislature, the State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers produced a “training video” that depicted the problems officers would have if their disciplinary records were made public.

We got a copy of the video from University of Hawaii journalsim professor Gerald Kato, who helped UH students in their efforts to obtain disciplinary files. It’s been in a box of records he’s saved for 18 years.

We converted it from VHS format to DVD and the video posted here has not been edited or changed. It is a little over eight minuted long.
