In its first ever such ranking, Forbes business magazine has ranked the best employers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

In Hawaii, Hawaiian Airlines is tops, followed by Hawaii Pacific Health, the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaiian Electric Co. and Hawaiian Telcom.

Ten other companies follow in popularity and include Times Supermarket and the University of Hawaii System.

Forbes worked with market research company Statista to discover which organizations are best liked by employees.

“All the surveys were anonymous, allowing participants to openly share their opinions,” according to Forbes.

The best employer in California, by the way, is Costco Wholesale, which ranked just ahead of In-N-Out-Burger and Trader Joe’s.

Walt Disney was back in the pack at No. 73. It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears.
