President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are inviting Washington, Virginia and Maryland elementary school children to trick-or-treat at the White House, which will be lit orange, on Saturday. 

The Obama’s will give out White House M&Ms, sweet dough butter cookies made by the White House pastry chef and dried fruit. Watch a video of the spooky preparations taking place at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. 

Want to make your own batch of sweet dough butter cookies? Here’s the official White House recipe: 

• 1 lb Sugar 

 • 1 tsp Vanilla

• 2 lbs Butter                                                 

• 1 tsp Salt

• 3 Eggs

• 3 lbs All Purpose Flour

Mix the butter and sugar until soft. Add eggs, vanilla, salt and half of the flour. Beat on slow speed until mixed, then add the rest of the flour and mix.

Push flat onto a cookie sheet and refrigerate overnight. Roll out to one quarter inch thick and cut out cookie shapes with cookie cutter.

Bake at 350 Fahrenheit for 14 minutes. Allow to cool.
