Gone is the vision of a harbor filled with boat slips that was supposed to host world-class yacht races. Instead, residents of the Ocean Pointe and Hoakalei developments could be enjoying leisurely swims and tours around an enclosed body of water on stand-up paddle boards and canoes.
While it may be welcome news to locals upset about the potential environmental and cultural impacts of the marina, the question remains – can developers renege on decades-old promises?
