Excerpt from the Herald:
Father Alexander, 52, said he had been discussing a sabbatical with (Bishop Larry Silva) for a while. He said he will use the break for “rest, spiritual renewal and intellectual updates.”
Father Alexander plans to do reading, researching and writing. Some of the topics he has considered tackling are strategic diocesan planning, church leadership, and the church and public policy.
Los Angeles will be his “home base” while on sabbatical, he said. From there he hopes to make use of the academic resources at L.A.’s Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit-run institution, and perhaps other Catholic universities elsewhere on the mainland.
Bishop Silva agreed that Father Alexander would benefit from the time away.
