That’s because, even though Richard Pollack had a full hearing Friday (June 22) before Senate Judiciary and Labor, the Hawaii Legislature is not actually in session. So, the committee cannot yet vote on his nomination to the Hawaii Supreme Court.
The Ledge will be in special session June 28 and 29, however, when it is expected to vote on Pollack and Peter Cahill’s nomination to the 2nd Circuit Court.
Judging by the favorable reception and uniformly positive testimony for Pollack at Friday’s hearing, his nomination seems assured. (Former AG Bob Marks called it a “public hug fest.”)
Cahill’s hearing is Tuesday.
