Because AI would eliminate union jobs and make marked improvements in government productivity don't expect to see any of your law makers push for it simply because they get elected through union support. Imagine most of those 500 unfilled police positions being handled by AI capability. Of course we need patrolmen, but AI can definitely remove much of the tedious, repetitive functions of jobs with near perfect accuracy every time. Too many blue pill decisions.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I don’t think Hawaii legislators are in a good position to be knowledgeable enough to regulate AI or anything else. Most of them have little to no business experience or technology expertise. People can choose to use whatever tools they find make them more productive. We don’t need a bunch of people who are likely incapable of finding and keeping employment in the private sector holding us back worse than they are already doing.
