A possible contender for president in 2020 is helping U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono bring in campaign funds.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, in a recent email plea, urged supporters to donate to Hirono, a fellow Democrat from Hawaii.
She said in part:
There’s only one way we’re going to stop Donald Trump: By standing together. All of us. … Mazie and I both arrived in the Senate in 2013 at the start of President Obama’s second term. Since then, we’ve been allies on issue after issue — fighting to advance comprehensive immigration reform, defend Obamacare, protect women’s health, raise the minimum wage, and ensure equal rights for all Americans.
Warren is described as one of nine women who could be elected president four years from now.
Hirono is up for re-election in 2018. Nathan Gonzales of Roll Call says the seat is “solid” for Democrats.
Friends of Mazie Hirono reported having $591,837 in cash on hand in the senator’s most recent filing (Sept. 30) with the Federal Election Commission.
