A new governor and new year means a fresh start for Hawaii’s environmentalists. Optimistic that 2011 will be a good year for greenies, the Environmental Legislative Network rolled out its legislative agenda this week. The collaborative effort of two dozen local environmental organizations — some well-known and some not so much — identified food security, sustainable energy and Native Hawaiian culture among its priorities. There are entries from each of the participating groups, including Sierra Club, Surfrider, Office of Hawaiian Affairs and the Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation.
