The vending machine company, Canteen, says in a letter posted to the machines that inflation drove up prices anywhere from .10 to .75 cents per item. In a West Wing press room, someone wrote “boycott” and “BS” on the letters explaining the price increase.
One Secret Service member who came into the press area to buy a snack on Thursday jokingly implored a TV crew working there to cover the issue.
“You need to talk to them about this,” the secret service member said. “And they took the tea out, those bastards.”
