Lauzanne Oshiro, wife of House Finance Chair Marcus Oshiro, begin working for the Office of the Auditor Dec. 30 as an assistant analyst and special projects coordinator.

According to an online profile, Oshiro holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of San Francisco. She formerly was a clerk for the state’s District Court-Traffic Violations.

“Work is work and personal life is personal life,” said State Auditor Marion Higa, who explained that Oshiro was hired because of her experience in state government. “We also have all kinds of confidentiality regulations in the office, so staff are not allowed to take any work information home.”

Legislators are generally exempt from the conflicts of interest provision of the State Ethics Code.
