The man and his dive partner were participating in the 2012 Roi Roundup dive tournament when he felt a tug at his leg, and saw what he believed to be a 15-foot tiger shark.
After the initial cuts to his right ankle, the shark circled back, but the diver kept him away with his spear gun.
Just two weeks ago, a California woman fended off a shark by punching it. On Oct. 18, a a stand-up paddler was knocked off his board by a tiger shark.
