The National Rifle Association has identified proposed bills at the Hawaii Legislature this session it likes — and doesn’t like. Many of the bills were reported on in a recent Civil Beat article

Here’s the measure that is particularly driving the NRA’s ire, according to the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action:

Senate Bill 219, is the most egregious of the bills introduced so far. This proposed ban of so-called “assault weapons” was introduced by state Senator Les Ihara, Jr. (D-10). This bill would result in widespread confiscation of firearms. …

“This misguided legislation will only hinder law-abiding gun owners in exercising their Second Amendment rights. Criminals — by definition — violate laws, especially gun control laws. They never obey gun bans, register their firearms, or comply with any gun control schemes whatsoever. … “
