The resos urge the U.S. Congress to recognize resident citizens of the Freely Associated States of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia who now live in the U.S. as “qualified aliens.”
That could lead to the migrants having Medicaid benefits restored, alleviating Hawaii’s financial burden. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa has introduced legislation to that effect.
The resos have a Senate hearing Monday afternoon (March 25 — today).
