Gil, Still Far from Hawaii, Forecast to Be Hurricane

The National Hurricane Center says Gil is forecast to become a hurricane in the next day or so. But, it is still far from Hawaii.

Forecasters say the storm is 920 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California. Maximum sustained winds are now 60 mph.  Gil is moving west-northwest at at 14 mph.  Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles from the center.

This general motion is expected to continue for the next 48 hours.
