The pipeline was shutdown Sunday and a work crew was at the scene, he said.
Information as to how much molasses was spilled was not immediately available.
The spill comes less than two months after a molasses pipeline broke in Honolulu Harbor spilling 233,000 gallons of the thick, sugary substance into the water and killing tens of thousands of fish and other sea life. Matson, which is responsible for the pipeline, is facing multiple investigations and potential fines for that spill.
