When it comes to being bike friendly in the U.S., Hawaii is 40th place among the states, according to the League of American Bicyclists.
The league’s 2014 report can be found here, and looks at five categories: Legislation & Enforcement, Policies & Programs, Infrastructure & Funding, Education & Encouragement, and Evaluation & Planning. Hawaii barely scored any points in all of those categories.
Civil Beat held a Civil Cafe discussion on the issue on Earth Day, April 22, at Fresh Cafe in Kakaako. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell has made a commitment to improve biking infrastructure for Oahu, as Sophie Cocke reported in March.
If you missed it, you can watch the entire Civil Cafe below, thanks to Olelo Community Media.
