Hawaii Kai and Aina Haina residents’ commute could become a lot more congested starting this summer, but eventually it shouldn’t be as bumpy.

The state is scheduled to begin repaving Kalanianaole Highway this summer, stretching from West Hind Drive to Hanauma Bay Road, according to a flyer from Rep. Mark Hashem.

The work is slated to begin no later than June 30 and last for 403 working days. No night work is planned.

The work is being overseen by the state Department of Transportation.
