Professional surfer, environmental activist and mixed-martial arts fighter Dustin Barca says he is running for the office of Kauai County mayor.

To that end, Barca will paddle and run around the entire island from May 29 to June 1, “paying tribute to and connecting with the people, aina (land, ‘that which feeds us’) and cultural sites of the island,” according to a press release today.
