Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry is looking to make his department the first in Hawaii in which most officers would wear body cameras.
Perry joins Pod Squad host Chad Blair and Civil Beat reporter Nick Grube via phone from Kauai to talk about why he believes the cameras would benefit his officers in particular and the public in general.
He also talks about the long negotiations he engaged in with the statewide police union that has voiced support for use of the cameras, but has also shown a tendency to continually raise new demands, some of which Perry is unwilling to meet.
