Monday was the 37th day of the 60-day Hawaii Legislature.
It was also the day that House Reps. Sylvia Luke, Tom Brower, Scott Nishimoto and Aaron Ling Johanson selected to raise money for their campaigns.
UPDATE: Rep. Mark Nakashima was there too! Turns out that he filed his fundraiser notice late with the state Campaign Spending Commission.
The suggested donation for each of the five elected officials was $100, and the location was Mandalay Restaurant downtown.

Luke chairs House Finance, Nishimoto is vice chair and Johanson is a committee member, so they know just how important money is when it comes to business at the Capitol.
Brower chairs House Tourism, where money also plays an important roll, as tourism drives the state’s economy.
Think there is any relationship between certain donors and certain pieces of legislation?
Or is purely coincidence that lawmakers choose to ask for money at the same time bills are being considered?
