Readers of Civil Beat know that I frequently (some say futilely) post notice when I see that a member of the Hawaii Legislature holds a campaign fundraiser during the legislative session from January through early May.

Well, I get most of my information from Hawaii’s Campaign Spending Commission, which tracks such things.

The agency posts an up-to-date list of who’s asking for money even as they consider legislation that just might be important to the very same people who give them the money.

Dollars on a plate

Since session began in January and through early March, 19 senators or representatives have held or will hold fundraisers.

Mandalay Restaurant and Artizen by MW Restaurant are the favored haunts

Most start at 5 p.m. — cocktail hour!

And the bribes — whoops! I mean suggested donations — start at $50 and climb as $2,000.

It’s all perfectly legal.
