Pod Squad host Chad Blair interviews documentary filmmaker Anthony Aalto, whose new film on homelessness is airing on Hawaii News Now. The film is a 90-minute deep exploration into the people who are living in homeless camps and shelters, why they are there and the efforts the city and state are making to reduce the number of homeless in Hawaii.

“We were trying to get people to see the homeless as human beings,” Aalto says.

The film will air again at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 on KGMB and at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 on KHNL. On Nov. 14, after the broadcast run is finished, the film will be available on DVD for $15 through the Institute for Human Services — the money goies to IHS — and through video on demand services.
