Hawaii health officials reported 128 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday — the same number of cases recorded Saturday — along with the death of another person on Oahu.
The new cases included 20 on the Big Island, 105 on Oahu, two in Maui County and one reported out of state.
A record 126,000 people were diagnosed with COVID-19 across the country on Saturday.
Oahu has seen an average of 90 new cases reported daily in the last week.
VIRUS TRACKER UPDATE
Civil Beat’s virus tracker is updated when the state releases its daily numbers. The state is now posting the numbers at 3 p.m.
Those metrics continue to keep Oahu in Tier 2 of its reopening plan and could delay the island’s move to Tier 3. Gatherings of up to 10 people would be allowed in Tier 3, but Oahu must maintain a seven-day average of 49 or fewer daily cases, and a seven-day average positivity rate below 2.49% for two weeks straight.
Civil Beat calculates at least 238 people have died from the disease in Hawaii including 17 deaths on Hawaii island that have not been recorded yet by the Department of Health due to medical verification lags. The statewide official death toll is at 221.
There are currently 75 people hospitalized in Hawaii with the disease.
