Two-year incumbent is facing two opponents in the primary.

Democratic incumbent for state House District 30 Shirley Ann Templo is facing two opponents in the Aug. 8 primary election. They are Kekoa Kealoha and Faatea S. Faatea.

The district includes Kalihi, Kalihi Kai, Keʻehi Lagoon and Hickam Village and Templo has been the representative since 2024.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face one of the two Republican candidates who prevail in the primary; Angela Melody Young or Amanda Ybanez.

All the candidates were sent a survey by Civil Beat asking for their views on a range of topics including how they would address affordability and housing issues in the district and what issues they would prioritize in the first six month of their term.

Responses, where provided, are linked in alphabetical order under their official ballot name, which you can also compare all in one spot on Civil Beat’s 2026 Hawaiʻi Primary Ballot. If more of the candidates submit their surveys we will add them here so check back.
