There are now 35 formally identified casualties.
The Maui Police Department released on Thursday the names of eight more victims of the Aug. 8 fire.
The individuals are Todd Nakamura, 61; Bernard Portabes, 75; Salote Tone, 39; Faaoso Tone, 70; Maluifonua Tone, 73; Bette Jo Dyckman, 73, Rebecca Rans, 57, and Tony Takafua, 7; the youngest victim of the fire so far identified.
All were residents of Lahaina.
The total of publicly identified victims is 35.
Eleven more victims have been identified by police, but their families have not yet been notified.
MPD Chief John Pelletier has said that he wants to give each family 24 hours after notification before publicly releasing their relative’s name.
The number of confirmed casualties remains at 115.
