This will be our last pop-up newsroom event for 2023.

The Civil Beat team will be at the Waimanalo Public Library for the second time since we started doing our pop-up newsrooms around the state.

Oahu’s Windward Coast has a very high degree of community engagement, particularly on issues like invasive species, beach and park access, homelessness and road safety.

Editors and reporters will be available to talk story and listen to your feedback on our journalism from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 12. These conversations often become the basis of new Civil Beat stories.

The Waimanalo event will wrap up our pop-up newsrooms for the calendar year.

There will be a brief holiday hiatus but, our first pop-up newsroom for 2024 will on Maui at the Wailuku Public Library on Monday, Jan. 8.

If you have suggestions for other locations that you think we should consider for our pop-up newsroom events in the future, we’d welcome your suggestions.

This project is supported by the Hawaii Community Foundation and the League of Women Voters of Honolulu Education Fund.

What it means to support Civil Beat.

Supporting Civil Beat means you’re investing in a newsroom that can devote months to investigate corruption. It means we can cover vulnerable, overlooked communities because those stories matter. And, it means we serve you. And only you.

Donate today and help sustain the kind of journalism Hawaiʻi cannot afford to lose.
