Maui residents impacted by the wildfires may now file an initial claim through Oct. 26.
The deadline for filing an initial application for Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits was this coming Monday, Sept. 25.
On Friday, however, the Hawaii State Department of Labor announced the U.S. Department of Labor approved an extension of the DUA deadline through Oct. 26.
“Individuals that do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance may be eligible for DUA benefits,” Gov. Josh Green said in a press release. “It’s essential that we make every effort to ensure Maui residents have the resources and time to access these funds.”
Individuals may apply for DUA online by clicking here or in person.
Or call (833) 901-2272 or (808) 762-5751 and (833) 901-2275 or (808) 762-5752. Free interpreter services are available.
