Ige Makes Appointments To PUC, Cabinet Positions

Colin Yost was named to the state’s regulatory board and will serve through 2024 pending confirmation by the Senate.

Gov. David Ige announced this week that he is appointing a solar energy executive to fill a vacant seat on the Public Utilities Commission and also a new director and deputy director for the Department of Accounting and General Services.

The appointments come as Ige prepares to leave office in about eight weeks and hand the reins of government over to either Republican Duke Aiona or Democrat Josh Green.

On Thursday, the governor appointed Colin Yost to fill a seat on the PUC left vacant by the departure of Jennifer Potter, who is resigning her position Oct. 31.

Yost is chief operating officer of the solar company RevoluSun, according to a press release. Previously, he managed the firm Cruise & Yost and was an attorney at Paul Johnson Park and Niles. Yost is a former Oregon assistant attorney general.

His appointment is effective Nov. 1 and runs through June 30, 2024. The Senate still needs to confirm his nomination.

This week, Ige also appointed Audrey Hidano as the new state comptroller. The former comptroller, Curt Otaguro, was appointed to a new deputy superintendent position in the state Department of Education in August.

Hidano is the former deputy director of DAGs. Meoh-Leng Silliman will now fill that role. Both terms end Dec. 5.
