The incumbent representative is running unopposed.
Andrew Takuya Garrett has been the Democratic member for state House District 22 since 2022, and has no challengers in the Aug. 8 primary election.
The seat covers the Honolulu community of Mānoa, which was hit hard by recent flooding during the March Kona low storms.
Civil Beat sent Garrett a series of questions about what his priorities would be in the first six months of his new term, whether he supported term limits for legislators and how he would address the issues of affordability confronting many households, among others.
His answers are linked here and all survey responses from candidates can be compared all in one spot on Civil Beat’s 2026 Hawaiʻi Primary Ballot.
