Lauren Matsumoto and Alexander Ozawa will answer questions and meet the voters.

Here’s an opportunity to learn more about the two candidates running for House District 38 in the Mililani area.

Civil Beat is hosting an election-focused pop-up newsroom from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mililani Mauka Elementary School cafeteria, 95-1111 Makaikai St. in Mililani.

Republican incumbent Lauren Matsumoto is hoping to fend off a challenge from Democrat Alexander Ozawa. You can read more about them in their Civil Beat Candidate Q&As; here is Matsumoto’s and here is Ozawa’s.

Civil Beat politics editor Chad Blair will be asking questions of the candidates. Audience members are encouraged to submit their own questions as well.

It’s a good opportunity to hear more from the candidates on issues that are important to the district and the state. We’ve done more than a dozen of these election pop-ups including nine before the Aug. 8 primary and half a dozen so far as a run-up to the Nov. 5 general election. They’ve proven to be lively and informative discussions so please join us. Light pupus and beverages will be available.

Civil Beat’s pop-up newsrooms are supported by the Hawaii Community Foundation and the American Press Institute’s Election Coverage and Community Listening Fund.
