Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to submit their applications.
The deadline to submit applications to fill a vacancy on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission has been extended to April 15 from March 22, the Judiciary Council announced Tuesday.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Hawaii residents, and may not hold any other public office, a news release says.
The Judicial Council nominates two individuals for each vacancy on the commission, from which the governor then chooses.
The five-member commission addresses ethical issues involving legislators, registered lobbyists and state employees. Members are responsible for investigating complaints, providing advisory opinions and enforcing the decisions the commission issues, the release says.
Applications are available on the Judiciary website or by calling the Judicial Council support staff at 808-539-4702.
