Parking at Kauai’s Lihue Airport ran out by 11 a.m. on Friday, prompting the Hawaii Department of Transportation to ask departing travelers to get dropped off at the airport to help ease a parking shortage exacerbated by spring break travel.

The DOT expects parking shortage problems to continue to plague Lihue Airport over the next two weekends, according to a press release.

Lihue Airport has 675 parking stalls that occasionally fill up, sometimes resulting in missed flights for travelers who had planned to park in the airport lot.
