The Green administration said Wednesday that it has hired a press secretary, one of the most public figures at the Hawaii State Capitol.
Makana McClellan, Gov. Josh Green’s communication director, said Erika Engle will assist her in facilitating media requests, writing news releases and media advisories and other key communications functions of the Office of the Governor.

Engle is the former communications officer for the Honolulu City Council, located within the office of Chair Tommy Waters.
She previously worked for former council member Kym Pine after 40 years in print and broadcast journalism with the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Pacific Business News, KSSK, KQMQ, KGMB, KHON, KITV and other media outlets.
According to McClellan, Engle also worked in marketing, advertising and public relations.
Engle joins Reece Kilbey, the governor’s digital media specialist. The administration is still looking for a deputy director and communications specialist.
