The latest development in the “birther conspiracy” over President Obama has Gov. Neil Abercrombie strongly condemning Donald Trump’s recent and well-publicized statements on the matter.

Abercrombie said Tuesday that he was in Honolulu when Obama was born in 1961.

“Let’s be serious,” the governor said. “It is simply reprehensible to have this kind of conversation. Insulting someone’s mother and father speaks about the person who is doing it.”

Abercrombie said Trump is questioning Obama’s birth place for political purposes.

“It is really difficult to accept inquiries from a serial bankrupt like Donald Trump,” he said.
