Apparent Inmate Suicide At Halawa Prison

From the Department of Public Safety on Tuesday (March 12):

Yesterday at approximately 4:10 p.m., inmate Jonathan Ibana (DOB 7/17/80) was pronounced dead. Preliminary reports rule the death as an apparent suicide. He was single-celled in the Halawa Correctional Facility Special Holdings Unit. At this time Honolulu Police and our Internal Affairs Office are investigating.
