A public meeting will be held Tuesday (June 30) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the state Capitol Auditorium. The topic is the Hawaii Community Development Authority’s master plan for the mauka area in Kakaako.
The plan is controversial, with some expressing concern about the building of new high rises in Kakaako. Does the area have sufficient infrastructure? What about schools? Supports, however, say Kakaako can be a third city, with mixed-use high rises and livable communities.
The meeting is co-sponsored by Senators Suzanne Chun Oakland and Brickwood Galuteria, Representatives Tom Brower, Della Au Bellati and Scott Saiki, and Honolulu Councilmembers Ann Kobayashi and Carol Fukunaga.
Tonight’s HCDA meeting will also be broadcast live on Olelo channel 53 and on their website.
