The diverse seat represents all the neighbor islands and a large part of Oʻahu.
Seven candidates are on the ballot for Hawaiʻi’s 2nd Congressional District. The district extends over 6,200 square miles and includes all the neighbor islands and parts of suburban and rural Oʻahu
Four of the candidates are Democrats, two are nonpartisan and one is a Republican.
All were sent a survey by Civil Beat asking them to outline their views on a range of issues, including whether they supported the use of liquified natural gas as a bridging fuel, how they would use federal programs to make housing more affordable and how they would balance local environmental and social needs with the strong military presence in the state.
