Incumbent Democrat is running unopposed in the primary election.

Sam Satoru Kong has represented House District 30 since 2014. The district includes a portion of ʻAiea, Waimalu and a portion of Hālawa.

He has no challengers in the Aug. 8 primary election.

Civil Beat sent Kong a series of questions including why he should continue in his role, what he considered legislative successes from the recent session and what he sees as the main issues facing people in his district.

His answers are linked here and all survey responses from candidates can be compared all in one spot on Civil Beat’s 2026 Hawaiʻi Primary Ballot.
