The huge district includes two of the neighbor islands.

Democratic representative Mahina Poepoe has no primary opponent on Aug. 8, so will face Republican candidate Robin Vanderpool in the November general election.

House District 13 is vast and includes Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, part of Kahuui, Haʻikū, Peʻahi, Huelo, Nahiku, Hana and Kīpahulu.

The candidates were sent a survey by Civil Beat asking them to respond to questions about interisland shipping costs, public education, housing affordability and more.
