Amber Riel teaches algebra at Waianae High School, where she has taught for seven years. She is currently the president of the Hawaii State Teachers Association Leeward Chapter, the largest chapter of public school teachers in the state that covers Pearl City to Makaha with more than 3,100 members. Born in Makaha, she was raised in Kalihi.
