The commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet said Oahu residents were right to believe Red Hill was unsafe.

More than 1,000 Air National Guard citizen-airmen are performing space jobs in Hawaii, Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, New York, Ohio and Guam.

Residents are concerned that Red Hill isn’t being drained of fuel quickly enough, but Honolulu’s chief water engineer cautioned it needs to be done safely.

If approved by the full U.S. House, the money will go towards facility defueling and water treatment.

The High Court’s decision paves the way for service members and their families to bring their claims about toxic contamination to Hawaii state court.

The Navy said it turned off the automatic deployment of firefighting foam after a leak in the system.

Repairs are supposed to be completed before the safe removal of fuel from Red Hill can begin.

The project received criticism from both the military and residents, but Hawaii’s federal delegation kept advocating for it – until now.

His exit is unrelated to the Red Hill fuel disaster, the Navy said.

The Red Hill water contamination crisis has prompted outrage, even among those who have traditionally supported the military.
