The Projector: Voyage Recalled, Rail Debated, New DLNR Pick and the Mountaintop Scene

A Journey Remembered A group photo is taken of the original Hokulea crew members who sailed to Tahiti and back in 1976. They were honored Monday by the Hawaii House of Representatives.
Hokulea Hats Women sport straw hats during the Capitol ceremony. For centuries, no one had attempted such a voyage using ancient wayfinding techniques of celestial navigation. The Hokulea is a full-size replica of a Polynesian double-hulled voyaging canoe.
The Vessel Sails On Since the original trip, the Hokulea has completed nine voyages to countries including Micronesia, Polynesia, Japan, Canada, and the U.S. mainland, and is now on an around-the-world journey.
Not Forgotten Three leis were placed on empty chairs to honor the original Hokulea crew members who have passed away.
